1:26 Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Thank you so much. Hello, everybody. Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome back. This is your girl, one of your fantastic, sexy, awesome host. Ladies Sativa. Now a KA's are going to be on each episode, at least on my part, because I think that's funny when people have a KA's So AKA Sugar Walls AKA Daddy's Girl AKA Baby's Girl AKA Darling Nikki the Best One of the best friend songs ever. Hands down I will fight you over that. And then you've heard. Not the best. That is of yours.
2:26 Is that when Dubs cry, there you go. That's. So good. And the Foo Fighters, we made it. I mean, come on. That probably was bad, but. It wasn't the 1st. Was great. It wasn't. Prince wasn't too happy. We heard a third though, Dave Grohl said. He said after Prince died. No, Prince said it. No cuz they already they came out with them before Prince died and Prince heard it and was not happy with that. Yes Prince said that after he you. Know I thought you said Dave Grove said. Prince liked it after Prince died.
3:05 Yep, that's what I said. Not that Prince said it after he died. He made the statement to the media after Prince had died, but Prince would have told him when he was alive. Yes. I didn't know if you picked up on that, but okay, we're clear. Right. So my whole thing is that Chris couldn't dispute whether or not he liked it or not. He did not. He didn't like. It he didn't. So I was right. And my husband and the producer. Laura Mondo, aka I am the one. He surprised me. He had an AKA. I was just dropping letter on him.
3:42 He had no idea. Look at see, we are soul mates. But I am the one. There he goes. There he goes. So guys, we have another fantastic, very educational, inspirational.
4:01 Provide this knowledge to yourself and share it. Stand on the mountain tops and shout it out to everybody. This is going to be one of those episodes. So today's very special guest cohost. Is somebody that for 30 minutes now I've just been talking to and I'm like, I guess we should start recording. You guys know, I love those connections. You know, I love when individuals are so deep within a journey of self that they can't help but to radiate that love, that energy, those teachings with others. And this guest cohost is definitely somebody.
4:44 Who is deep and what I described as somebody's purpose when they're able to do that and do it so effortlessly. So today we have an international bestselling author, intuitive and conscious relationship coach Kerry Jarislo. I said that, like I told her, I'm drinking Michiladas, so I had to make sure that that that was correct. Kerry teaches individuals how to interact with themselves and others in a very mindful way. According to Kerry, when we discover and embrace who we really are, we can be more genuine in our interactions with others.
5:27 And I like to add, I believe in yourself, which in turn gives our lives a sense of pleasure that is unmatched by anything else that you could ever experience. She is the creator. And the host of the Relationship Diversity Podcast, Shout out to other podcast where she celebrates and explores all aspects of relationship structure diversity from soloamory, monogamy, polyamory and everything in between. And believe me, those are all they're all different spectrums and there's definitely, you know, facets in between and between.
6:07 Believing that every relationship is as unique as the people involved. This is relationships reimagined. That's please welcome mother wife. Someone who's now going to be like one of my best friends in my head coach Kerry. Yes. I like to. I like to give little, you know, when I care about people, I like to give them little nicknames. So I threw the coach carry in there. Now I know that you are in the foothills of North Carolina and our youngest is obsessed with the show called Outer Banks, where they're in north.
6:53 He loves that North Carolina and he's like mom, I want to visit there seems like a really cool state. They have the beach there in the mountains and everything, so. How is it in North Carolina? It's somewhere that we haven't visited. I think the farthest S we've been, it was Georgia. I mean, I have family Mississippi. For me, Georgia. Georgia. Yeah. Louisiana is lower, but Georgia's further east. Yeah, yeah. Oh, I guess Florida. I haven't been to Florida. We didn't go to Florida together. That's right.
7:27 No, because and all this message together. And we weren't together when you were. 13 We weren't. We were. We were, because we're soul mates, but we weren't.
7:40 So tell us a little bit about your your home front. Tell. US a bit about North Carolina? I love North Carolina. I've been here almost 11 years. I. Grew up outside of DC and went to school in Florida. Lived in New York City for seven years. Las Vegas for 12:00. I've been in massive big cities and we moved here because we got an opportunity to buy a vineyard and winery because North Carolina has wine country here and we're we're among, you know, the top ten wine regions in the world. We're federally recognized.
8:22 It's just not as well known. So that was a little a little detour of, you know, let's follow our passions. OK, Let's buy a vineyard. All right. Let's move to North Carolina. OK, Why not the vineyards. Currently, we're we're currently transitioning out because we moved here when my littlest was three, like going into high school. So we got and we got to figure out where high school's going to be for him. But what I love about North Carolina is you're right, it's got. The Outer Banks. It's got the beaches, it's got the mountains.
8:53 I'm a mountain girl. I love Asheville, Boone, some of these, it's just got, it's kind of got everything. People are really nice here. The cities are definitely not as big as where I've lived, but they've have that kind of urban feel to them. Winston Salem's an amazing City. Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham. It's just got everything and the weather is not as extreme as New York, DC, not as hot as Florida, so it's but it's got seasons, so it's different than Las Vegas, which didn't really have seasons. So it's kind of got everything.
9:33 It's just an amazing state. That's how I feel about California. We got everything. We have the wine country. We're in Northern California, so we have Napa and some we have a bunch of different wine countries, they call them. But then where we are, we get summer, it's hot winter, it's rainy and cold fall. We see the leaves change everything. So it's a little different than like LA and Southern California where you don't get all of that. Yeah, I love Northern California. Oh, I love the redwoods and Shasta.
10:08 And there's some trippy stuff that happens in Mount Shasta. Yeah, we watched this one YouTuber called. Mr. Ballin and he's done a few different stories about things that happen up in Mount Shasta or the forest or hiking areas, like around that area, how people disappear or they'll say people are following them or watching them and they like just live out in the forest but no one can ever find them, type Bill. It's really crazy. Yeah, I had that experience when I was in Mount Shasta and thank God my husband was with me because I would think I was going crazy.
10:46 But I seriously, this guy came over to me and gave me this book. We were up on this mountain doing this like. It was a sauna and a tub and everything. And this, there was no one there. But this guy came up to me. He gave me this fuck and he said this is a gift from the mountain and it was channeling from the Bermurians. And then he drove off. My husband gets in the car and like, follow that van. We need to see where that guy goes. And we went around the mountain, around the mountain, and we still kept seeing him.
11:14 And then. He went around the mountain and we came out to a straight Rd. that you could see like probably 5 miles in the distance. And there was no one there. There was no one. I mean, he there was no I really there was no place that van could have gone. It disappeared. Seriously. And think, I like I said, my husband was there, so I wasn't just seeing it. It was awesome.
11:38 Wow. See, I have to visit like I just won Jackson. I just had to run out. You have children. So you know, we heard like a crash. So I just ran out for a second to see what's going on. And then I said you're interrupting a podcast. I said she lives near and he goes, don't say Outer Banks because he's actually watching it, right. Yeah, it's. Too funny, I was. Like we're. About six hours from the Hour Bank Outer Banks, but it is in the same state. Yeah, all he needs to hear is North Carolina, and he's just between that show and anime, he is.
12:13 In it deep right now. What is the Outer Banks? The Outer Banks, it's like a strip of land that's off out of the, I guess the main land and there's different little towns in there. And so it's just this, it gets battered when we have hurricanes, but special little. Strip of land that. I mean, it's long. I don't even know how long it is. I've only been there once because it's. It's a show. It's like fishing villages throughout. I mean, that's how the show sets it up so. It's a peninsula. Or island.
12:50 What did you say? It's a peninsula or an island.
12:55 I'm pretty sure it's a peninsula. And then there are islands that you can we ferried over to some island you can only get to by ferry. I can't remember the name of it. They actually just did an episode, so he's getting me into watching these. So I just watched an episode where the main characters took a ferry to get over. To. Like the main island and they went shopping and they had to go there for the university was there. Was like. Or something like that, but I'm talking about it like it's not a show, like it's real but.
13:26 Really over there. He just got really excited about that. But you, I mean, you just whine because we definitely before children. And when we just had disposable income, we were wine horse, OK. Like we every Friday we'd go to Bevmo, which you know you guys have Bevmo's. Well, you've been on the West Coast, so you know what Bevmos are. Yeah, the liquor stores, if you guys don't know other other parts of the world and. Country. The package stores for those in the South, yes. It's like it's a package store.
14:04 IOK sidebar. I did not. We did not know. We're in Atlanta and we were looking for a liquor store to go to a family reunion. We were all like, we don't need to go into the sober. So we were driving around and we were like, what is going on here? And so we stopped and one guy was like, yeah, you got to go to the package store. And we were like, all right, we know we're not from Georgia, but we clearly said, where's the liquor store, not a U, PS:. Store. What is wrong with them? We don't want the package store because we have no idea.
14:35 Then finally somebody goes, no, you guys are from California, aren't you? We could tell from the accent. I was like, we don't have an accent. You guys have an accent. But he was like, no, right there up the block, right on the right hand side. And we were like, oh, it literally says package store. He's like, yeah, that's a liquor store. We walked in and we were like it was like bevmo on crack. Like it was on steroids. I won't say on crack. So you didn't correct me, didn't catch me. I caught myself that time on steroids.
15:08 Not OK, but it was huge alcohol that I've never seen in my life. But then we got in the car and we were like the outcast. They saying so many of their songs go to the package store, but we never realized that that was a liquor store. Technically, a crack head might act like somebody who has roid rage, so I thought. You gave me that one. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate it. So that was a sidebar back to the story. So we really loved wine. We would go to Bevmo where you would pay 1/4 per taste of, you know, sips of wine.
15:48 The thing was if you purchased wine after that, they never charged you for the wine tasting. So we go in there, get nice and lit after work, get our wine and then go in downtown of our city. I think I've said Sacramento before, so it's not a secret. And there was a rest. There was a wine, a wine bar there. And the gentleman there, he taught us so much about drinking wine. Like he used to just go stay after I closed and would just go take bottles of wine off the count like off the shelves like and be like you guys.
16:23 I'm going to get you guys on old Vine Zen. I'm going to get you on red wine. We're going to get you on it. And now that is our absolute favorite. So I say that to ask, what is the variety or what is like the most famous, yeah, variety that comes out of North North Carolina? Well, so, so our wine region is called the Yadkin Valley Ava. So we're federally recognized viticulture area and. Our climate is very similar to Bordeaux, France. Our is very similar to Tuscany, Italy. So we do European style wines here.
17:06 So we grow at our vineyard, we grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, San Gervaisse and we buy other grapes from vineyards in our Ava. And so, but everything is European style. So we're not going to make like a California, you know, super Okie, a shirt that we will make like a Chablis style Chardonnay, which is, you know, stainless steel, it's green apples, citrus, just different kinds of wine. Yeah, you. See, I'm just now realizing that a lot of the wine we used to do, like the Napa wine tours, the Napa Valley wine train, until they proved that they were racist.
17:48 And a couple other things, a couple other wineries, but I'm we here in California, there are a lot of barrel barrel aging and I think there's only been a couple that we've seen like the steel, steel drums or what you know what you would call it. So is that the big difference between other than the soil and like the kind of grapes that we're able to have here, Is that the big difference? Well, definitely the soil is going to yield different kinds of grapes out there in California and I I haven't been out there in a while, but I think a lot of.
18:18 Places use American oak. It's a kind of oak. So we do barrel age are Reds in French oak, which is, you know, I would say like French wines like have maybe they're softer and they have maybe a little bit more finesse. They're not super like punchy and tannic like a California cab or you know. Where you have to have your tannins stripped to be able to get used to. I learned a lot of wines here from California. You have to pretty much train your palate to be able to take those because a lot of people go ill.
18:55 I like the fruity, you know, wines and I'm like, you're not drinking good wine. Like, I mean some of it's not, most of it's not bad. But if you really want to consider yourself a wine connoisseur and being able to pair them, you have to have some some ability to have a red wine. It can't be loaded with sugar you know that's something that that goes on here in North Carolina is a lot of people like sweet wine and sweet wine can have its space. If you're like eating something spicy, you know that you balance it out with or something but it is a training you know it is a training and and I that's what I like about kind of my business partner talks about.
19:41 Wine. She likes wine that talks back to her. So that's like that real tear, like punchy, you know, it makes you like, you know, kind of it it it pulls all the that's what Tam is. Do they pull all the saliva kind. Of. And create that sensation. And our wines are just more drinkable, but not sweet. They're drinkable. They they do, they are fruit forward, but again, not sweet. So you get those punches of fruit. Which is kind of like European wines. They they really take, let the fruit do the speaking.
20:18 So they don't, That's a European, not all, but a lot of European winemaking is about like they call themselves a wine grower. So like, where does the wine, where does this grape want me to take it as a wine? And because they really wanted to put themselves on the map. You know way back they, you know, there was just a little bit more that they did to it to set them apart from what Europe is. And you know they made a name for themselves definitely with that. But we because our soil and climate and everything will lend itself to growing those European grapes, we want to really, you know use the the skills of a European winemaker and the knowledge and and I think that there's a lot of intuition in that like.
21:07 Understanding where the grapes come in because they come in differently every year and where did the grapes want to go? I love that and that's very relatable. I'm you know in the cannabis industry, I mean it's a plant, it's it's same same kind of thing. So we're going to get to, everybody's probably listening like are you getting to what you introduced. But I know that North Carolina is one of the areas that it produces great hemp products as well. It grows very good hemp because of the climate and the soil and whatnot.
21:40 Are you seeing a growth of that as more and more states go to either legalize medicinally or go ahead and do what should be done and just make it legal record you know fold across the board recreationally and and medically. Are you seeing more more of that where people are jumping into the cannabis industry or they're at least growing hemp because that if. I'm not mistaken. It's still illegal within the state. It's so, yeah. So marijuana is not legal here. Delta 8 is legal here. I I would say that.
22:15 And the only reason why I heard this is because technically, you know, we grow grapes and that's in agriculture. And I think that I remember maybe it was 2018 that there was a big push. I it feels like it's kind of come down a little bit because I remember it was like, oh, now now North Carolina agriculture, they're really pushing hemp growth and a D and all of that. There was a huge uptick then and then it's just because it's not really in my sphere. Although although I know in like even in the small town that I live in, small towns around here, like there are definitely Delta 8 shops there, hemp shops.
22:59 In all towns. See, that's that is a larger message and I know this isn't my cannabis podcast, so I won't, I won't go off on my soapbox or stand on my soapbox for this. But that should be a broader message that if the citizens of your state are utilizing it and it's improving and you know their health and adding some Wellness to their to their lifestyle, then listen like let's stop. You know, the big pharma being so much in your pockets and let's go ahead and start really worrying about the citizens and how that could actually help to build some wealth for those people that maybe don't have an option to build wealth any other way.
23:40 But yeah, so like I said, I won't get on my soapbox. We'll save that for my podcast. But thank you for joining us on Soulmates and Swingers. We hope that you enjoyed yourself. Just as much as we did, please don't miss our next play date. It just wouldn't. Be the same without you. Until next time, be passionate. Be in the moment. Be bowl, be loving.
